MEET GERALD

Mr. Kaufman is a dedicated volunteer who embodies the principle of ‘veterans helping veterans.’ As a Service Officer accredited by The American Legion, Department of Florida, and the Florida Department of Veterans Affairs, he provides invaluable assistance to veterans in need. Each week, he volunteers his time on the campus of Keiser University to support these individuals.

Mr. Kaufman has successfully filed multiple compensation claims for veterans attending Keiser University and has gone above and beyond to assist them. For example, he helped arrange transportation for an Operation Enduring Freedom veteran, waiting with him at the Orlando VA Mental Health Center and then transporting him to Lake Baldwin for his prescribed medications before returning to campus. ‘This veteran is a straight-A student with a bright future, but he had no idea where to turn for help with his PTSD,’ said Mr. Kaufman. ‘He is now fully enrolled in the VA health care system and is in the process of filing his PTSD claim through my office.’

Mr. Kaufman emphasizes, ‘At the Legion, we take care of our veterans and their families. It’s not just about filing VA benefit claims; we assist with VA home loan benefits, counseling, family emergencies, emergency financial aid, and scholarships for education. I’m here for the veterans and their families.’
