Reflecting on Our Shared Impact

We offcially closed the books on our 11th year as a program of the American Legion, Department of
Florida, proudly serving Florida’s veterans and their families. Despite operating without a caseworker
for half the year, we continued to see a remarkable number of requests for support; which is a true testament to the need for our services and the dedication of our team.

Thanks to Shenicia, our new caseworker who hit the ground running, we’re already seeing an uptick in impact. With her leadership, we’re on track to hit two major milestones this year through our Emergency Assistance efforts:

  • 2,000 veterans served
  • $2 million in financial aid distributed

These funds help keep roofs over heads, lights on and food on the table for veterans in crisis. Meanwhile, our Suicide Prevention Initiative has made signicant strides by forging deeper relationships with our Strategic Partners. These nonprots are focused on veteran’s mental health and allow us to sponsor veterans through established, proven systems that aim to reduce, and ultimately prevent, veteran suicide.

Our success and growth wouldn’t be possible without the unwavering support of the Florida Legion Family. You continue to see the value in this mission and chose to champion it. Thank you!

Of course, with growth comes increased responsibility and a renewed focus on future sustainability. PROJECT: VetRelief is entirely funded by the generosity of individuals, Legion Posts, corporate sponsors, and community partners. Without your ongoing support, we simply cannot meet the demands of our veteran community.

As we begin a new Legion year, we ask that you keep PROJECT: VetRelief top of mind while planning your fundraising efforts. Your commitment ensures we can continue meeting critical needs for veterans across Florida.

Be sure to check our Legion Link articles each month for updated impact stats. We’ll keep them
posted at the top of each article. Together, our impact is greater than ever.
