One Program: Two Missions
PROJECT: VetRelief was established in 2014 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit program under The American Legion, Department of Florida. While our Department has been serving veterans since 1919, our 501(c)(3) designation allows us to secure funding from corporations and foundations, which is essential to operate our programs and services.
Through PROJECT: VetRelief, we provide two vital services to the veteran community: emergency assistance and suicide prevention.
Emergency Assistance
When veterans or their families face a life emergency, PROJECT: VetRelief provides immediate financial support. These funds are not loans. They are granted with no strings attached to help cover urgent needs, such as keeping a roof over their heads or ensuring essential utilities remain on.
Suicide Prevention Initiative (SPI)
SPI focuses on supporting veterans through existing mental health treatments and preventive programs to reduce suicide risk. Working alongside our Strategic Partners, we provide funding to expand programs and mentor veterans in crisis. With the current veteran suicide rate at 22 per day, our mission is to reduce this number as much as possible.
Your Contribution Matters
Donations to PROJECT: VetRelief are divided into two separate funds: one for emergency assistance
and one for suicide prevention. If you’d like your donation applied to a specific area, please note that in the memo section.
Our ultimate goal is to ensure veterans can always rely on us during their most challenging times.
Continued support from the Florida Legion Family is crucial, and we are deeply grateful to have YOU helping us make a lasting impact.
